Words that inspire me this week

“When we for recompense have

praised the vile,

It stains the glory in that happy verse

Which aptly sings the good.”

– Timon of Athens

“So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up…
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.”

– 1 Corinthians 13, The Message

This reminds me of Baba’s emphasis on character. More important than being right, more important than having approval or validation, more important than titles, more important than anything, is integrity, humility, service, expressed through committed, consistent action for the benefit of all living beings.

Intention

“If you send out goodness from yourself, or if you share that which is happy or good within you, it will all come back to you multiplied ten thousand times. In the kingdom of love there is no competition; there is no possessiveness or control. The more love you give away, the more love you will have.”
John O’Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom

The first woman who told me to go to the river said that Osun is our cell bodies.

According to Merriam-Webster, cytosol (pictured above) is “the fluid portion of the cytoplasm exclusive of organelles and membranes —called also ground substance.” Source

I am grateful for water, for Osun, and for life.

Path

Keep the focus on my own. Respect others enough to let them find theirs, admit that I don’t know their route. A wise woman told me today, paths may run parallel for a time, and they may cross, but they never merge.
